Our Master Bedroom Refresh.

Our master bedroom is probably the one room in the house that hasn’t felt completely “finished” for far too long— which is sad because it’s a very important room! For me, a master bedroom should feel calm and inviting, which I feel is best achieved through neutral colors and the layering of different textures (think upholstered furniture, bedding, window treatments, and, of course, a statement rug!).

When we first moved in, we repurposed a rug from our previous apartment to go under our bed. Size-wise it fit and the color worked (light gray, naturally) — but while it looked perfect in our old apartment, it looked very blah in our new bedroom.

A “before” shot of our master bedroom. So boring!

A combination of the blank walls and solid rug read very boring. I told myself I’d find a new one ASAP but fast forward three years and lots of time spent decorating other rooms in our home, and this rug is still on the floor… until today!

When Serena & Lily offered to gift me one of their gorgeous rugs for our bedroom, I just about jumped out of my chair. Each rug is heirloom-worthy, serving as the design anchor of any room it’s placed in. From colorful flatweaves to hand-knotted wool, Serena & Lily brings beautiful design and craftsmanship to each and every rug.

Serena & Lily is often my go-to for rugs when I’m working on clients’ homes because of these reasons. They’re just so well-made and gorgeous and they absolutely complete the room. I admit I had a hard time choosing just one for our bedroom, but ultimately knew that I just HAD to go with the Mirabelle Rug in ivory.

The Mirabelle Rug absolutely completes our bedroom.

I’ve used this rug a few times (in both the ivory and the navy color) and it never disappoints. Simply put, it’s neutral without ever being boring; the pattern is gorgeous, it’s unique looking and the rug is insanely soft to the touch. I mean, just look at this pattern!

Every time I put this rug in someone else’s home, a little voice inside my head tells me to add it to our own home — which is why I’m so thrilled that this day has finally come!

I’m obsessed with the color tones, patterns, and texture it brings to our bedroom. It coordinates perfectly with the Camille Scroll Pillows that we already had on our bed and elevates and ties everything else together.

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll also have noticed that I hung some wallpaper (also by Serena & Lily) to the wall behind our bed. I actually originally purchased the paper for our downstairs powder room but fell even more in love with it when it arrived, so I decided to instead add it to our master bedroom. Just look at how it’s dressed up the wall! I hung it myself, which was….. a process… but I’m glad I did and now I feel ready to tackle other walls in our home so stay tuned! But, the Mirabelle Rug remains my favorite accent in our bedroom.

I’m just so thrilled how our bedroom is shaping up and that this rug is finally mine. If you’re hunting for the perfect rug for your home, Serena & Lily is currently offering up to 30% off all rugs so now is a great time to pick one up! Some other favorites include the Channing, the Selby, the Galiano, and the Brunswick (which looks very similar to the rug that we have in our upstairs hall, which is no longer available and I get asked about all the time!).

I’m sharing some more photos of our bedroom and this rug on Instagram this morning, so head on over — and, as always, everything is also linked with Liketoknow.it.

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!!
