Nursery Design: Light, Bright, and Whimsical with Floral Wallpaper Charm

Helping to design this nursery was extra special because it was for my sister, which made every decision feel that much more meaningful.! We wanted the space to feel light, bright, and just a little bit whimsical, while still keeping everything soft and timeless. The goal was to create a room that feels calm and inviting from the moment you walk in, layered with subtle color and thoughtful details that will grow beautifully over time.

The floral wallpaper truly sets the tone for the entire space, bringing in soft blush tones, greens, and warm neutrals that feel both playful and elevated. It also highlights the angled ceiling in such a charming way, turning an architectural detail into one of the most special features in the room. And we opted to paint all of the trim, windows and doors the prettiest pale pink (Benjamin Moore “Shell Pink”). From the very beginning, every piece was chosen to complement that palette and create a nursery that feels cohesive, peaceful, and full of heart.

A Timeless White Crib Styled for a Light and Airy Nursery

The white wooden crib anchors the nursery with a clean, classic feel that instantly brightens the space (fun fact: this crib was actually my son’s and then my niece’s so this baby will be the third one to use it!). Its simple design keeps everything feeling airy and timeless, while allowing the surrounding details, especially the wallpaper, to really shine. We styled it with soft blush pink sheets to subtly pull in color and tie back to the tones throughout the room, creating a look that feels cohesive without feeling overly themed.

Above the crib, a framed print from Minted adds such a sweet and personal touch (These lyrics are from a song that our grandmother would always sing to us). It brings in warmth and softness while serving as a beautiful focal point on the wall. To keep the space feeling cozy and lived in, we layered in a few stuffed animals on the crib, which double as decor and future favorites. It is one of those corners that feels both styled and functional, striking the perfect balance for a nursery.

Creating a Cozy Corner with a Neutral Nursery Chair and Soft Textiles

This cozy corner was designed to be both functional and inviting, perfect for those quiet moments throughout the day and night. The upholstered white nursery chair keeps the space feeling soft and elevated, while also being incredibly comfortable for feeding, reading, or simply settling in. Its neutral tone blends seamlessly with the rest of the room, allowing the textures and surrounding details to stand out without overwhelming the space.

We paired the chair with a leather moroccan pouf featuring a subtle floral pattern that ties back beautifully to the wallpaper. It adds a relaxed, lived in feel while still feeling intentional and styled. A small ceramic side table completes the setup, offering the perfect spot for essentials while adding another layer of warmth and functionality. Together, these pieces create a cozy, thoughtfully styled corner that feels just as beautiful as it is practical.

A Styled Toy and Book Corner with Functional Nursery Storage

This little corner brings in so much personality while still feeling organized and intentional. A simple shelf styled with a mix of books and toys creates an easy, approachable display that doubles as decor. It keeps everyday favorites within reach while adding soft color and charm to the space, making it feel playful without overwhelming the overall design.

The woven giraffe basket adds the sweetest touch of texture and whimsy, while also serving as functional storage for extra toys and essentials. Paired with the standing floor lamp featuring three globe lights, this corner feels warm, cozy, and softly lit, perfect for winding down with a book or adding a gentle glow to the room. It is one of those spaces that feels both practical and thoughtfully styled, bringing everything together in such a natural way.

A Functional and Beautiful Changing Table with Elevated Decor

The changing table doubles as a classic white six drawer dresser, bringing both function and timeless style into the nursery. Its clean lines keep the space feeling light and uncluttered, while the extra storage makes it easy to keep everything organized and within reach. Topped with a soft gray changing pad, it creates a comfortable and practical spot for everyday routines without taking away from the overall aesthetic.

Above the dresser, a round mirror adds the perfect finishing touch, helping to reflect light and soften the space with its shape. We kept the top styling simple and intentional with a woven basket filled with diapers, adding both texture and easy accessibility. It is a setup that feels elevated and beautiful, while still being completely practical for daily use.

Layering Rugs, Window Treatments, and Finishing Touches for a Cohesive Nursery Design

To bring everything together, we layered in soft, grounding elements that complement the wallpaper without competing with it. The neutral rug adds warmth and subtle texture underfoot, helping define the space while keeping the palette light and cohesive. Linen window shades filter in the most beautiful natural light, enhancing that airy, relaxed feel we wanted throughout the room.

We also leaned into decor that feels both meaningful and functional, from soft textiles to thoughtfully placed accessories that make the space feel lived in and loved. Every detail was chosen to support the overall vision while still keeping the room practical for everyday life.

This nursery will always hold a special place in my heart because it was created for my sister and her growing family. Every layer of this space was designed with intention, blending beauty and function in a way that feels both personal and timeless.

It is a room that feels calm, cozy, and full of love, and I know it will be the backdrop for so many sweet moments in the years ahead.
