Kitchen Updates with Serena & Lily.

I’m so excited to reveal a few updates to our kitchen today! Our kitchen is truly the heart of our home and a space we spend many, many hours in each day. A few of you may have noticed some sneak peeks in photos the past couple of weeks and today I’m finally ready to share with you our new counter stools and kitchen runner, which are both from Serena & Lily!

As many of you know, we’ve had our beloved Riviera Backless Counter Stools for close to four years. They are SO incredibly kid-friendly and comfortable; I still recommend them to everyone! I love the casual vibe and how much warmth and texture that they added to our kitchen. However, our kids are getting a little older and we find ourselves sitting at the counter more and more these days (doing homework, baking, doing arts and crafts) — so I really wanted to update our stools with something that had a back.

Serena & Lily’s Balboa Counter Stool has been on my wishlist for a few years now and I was SO HAPPY to finally add them to our own kitchen. These counter stools are true beauties. The frame of the stool is made from mahogany and then wrapped by hand with rattan. The rattan adds SO much warmth and texture and just looks incredibly elegant (but is still incredibly durable!). The stools come in two colors (I chose MIST, which is a beautiful light gray but the stools are also available in a natural rattan, which is equally stunning).

The cushion for the stools comes in a variety of performance fabric options, has a non-skid pad at the bottom, and a zipper at the back for easy washing.

I chose “Fog,” which is one of my favorite fabrics that Serena & Lily makes (it’s the same fabric that we have on our Pacifica outdoor sectional so I know it’s durable!!) and it’s always in-stock, which means it ships much more quickly. The comfort and durability of this easy-to-clean seat cushion made with Serena & Lily’s Perennials fabric makes me feel completely at ease with the kiddos sitting up at the counter. If something drops or spills on the cushion, it’s seriously no problem. It IS possible to have nice things and to live with kids and pets!

I love how these stools have elevated our kitchen and have actually made the room feel even cozier. Below, I’ve included some other favorite counter stools from Serena & Lily:

You might have also noticed that we also added a new runner in front of our range! We used to have a vintage runner (which I loved) but I was itching for a change and the Alamere rug from Serena & Lily ended up fitting in perfectly! This rug has a vintage look and feel without the hefty price-tag and is so stunning in person. It feels soft thanks to a handwoven cotton-wool blend and has a beautiful “well-loved” look despite being brand new.

I love the shades of white, cream and blue, and how nicely it coordinates with our Willowmere rug in the next room. We have an open floor plan so I love the two pops of blue that we now have in our kitchen and living room. The Alamere comes in a bunch of different sizes but I personally think it’s perfect as a runner.

Below, I’m including a roundup of a few other Serena & Lily rugs that I think work just as beautifully as runners:

I’m so in love with our updated kitchen and am so happy to have it ready before the holidays season. It’s funny how much a room can change just by swapping in one or two new items.
