Our Entryway Refresh with Serena & Lily.

Our home is perfect in many ways but our entryway (or lack thereof) has been one space that I’ve struggled with since day one. Our front door essentially opens up immediately to our staircase, which doesn’t allow for a traditional entryway or “drop zone” that many homes are fortunate enough to have.

We do, however, have a small nook beside our staircase that provides just enough room for an entryway of sorts, which is what I’m sharing with you guys today!

A few months ago, Serena & Lily was kind enough to reach out and offer to collaborate on a room. And since this entryway has been in need of some serious love for a long time, I thought it would be the perfect project to work on together.

You might remember that I wallpapered this space with removable wallpaper a few months back and while it was beautiful, it ended up being much too busy for my taste. This little spot on our home can be dark at times so I really wanted to be cognizant of the amount of natural light that we get here and add pieces that would brighten it up as much as possible.

The first thing I did was to add wallpaper to the two walls of this corner to differentiate it from the rest of the hallway. It’s no surprise that I love wallpaper but one of my favorite tricks is to use it on just one or two walls to create a distinct space. I chose the Oxford Stripe wallpaper, which is a really beautiful and subtle raised pinstripe. A stripe is that classic pattern that will never go out of style and that I don’t (think) I’ll ever tire of. (This wallpaper in particular is no longer available, unfortunately, but there are tons of striped patterns out there if you’d like to try to replicate this design).

Next, I added a gorgeous console table that I had been coveting for way too long. The Blake Console is a simple parsons table but it’s wrapped in the most beautiful grasscloth, which adds so much warmth and texture to a room. It’s available in three colors (navy, natural and “fog,” which is a really light and beautiful gray). I went with the table in in “fog” to play off of the wallpaper and coordinate with the rest of our home since we have such an open floor-plan but all three options are stunning and neutral. Just look at the texture on this table! Another thing I love about the table is just how well-made it is. The grasscloth is tightly woven and adhered to the table so you don’t have to be too careful placing objects on top of it.

I love the look of a pair of ottomans tucked under a console but rather than choose a more traditional set of upholstered cubes, I went with the Milo Pouf, which adds such a cool, coastal vibe to the hallway. These poufs are handwoven of seagrass and are incredibly durable (they can absolutely double as extra seating). I love their rounded shape and the braided seagrass detail along the side. Seriously unique!

A mirror is a must in any entryway for me. Since I had already incorporated so much detail and texture through the wallpaper, grasscloth console and seagrass poufs, I wanted to lean a little simpler with the mirror and decided to go with the Ojai Mirror in white. I love the oversized frame and how classic this piece is. It blends in perfectly without looking “plain” and is just the perfect complement to the console. It comes in two sizes (this is the large) and colors (in black, this mirror is SO chic!!).

I plan to switch up the accessories in our entryway each season but for now, decided to keep it simple with a table lamp, stacks of books, a pair of brass candlesticks, a decorative box and photo frames… but I can already envision pumpkins lining this table or a mini Christmas tree down the road!

Below are some more shots of our little entryway. I seriously love it!!

Right now, Serena & Lily is having its Fall Design Event where nearly everything is 20% off with code NEWSEASON! I always try to take advantage of this huge sale myself and share with you my picks (things I truly own and love). Below are some of my favorites:
