Living Room Refresh with Walmart Home.

For me, January is all about organizing and refreshing our living spaces. What better way to kick off the new year, right?

Once all of the holiday decorations were removed from our living room, I looked around and it felt so bare. I wasn’t going to purchase anything major, but wanted to bring in a few new elements to cozy up our home for the remaining winter months.

Walmart is often my go-to retailer when it comes to refreshing a space. They offer an incredible variety of home decor, bedding, and furniture, which makes it so easy to give our home a fresh and clean look. The corner of our living room that had our Christmas tree was an empty blank slate so I decided to turn it into a little reading nook — a cozy spot close to our fireplace where we could curl up with a book or a cup of coffee or cocoa.

I had been searching for a floor lamp for months but hadn’t found one that I really loved until I saw this modern pharmacy lamp in antique brass.

I LOVE the shape and style of the piece and didn’t realize until I moved it in here just how much our living room was in need of some brass elements! It’s so well-made, looks incredibly high-end, and didn’t cost me a fortune. The kids now love sitting here and turning the lamp on in the evening too :)

Next, this corner needed a small side table to place a book or a cup of coffee. The coffee table isn’t too far away but honestly isn’t close enough to use unless you get up from the sofa. I wanted the piece to be small and round (kid-friendly) and fell in love with this jute floor pouf.

It’s just the right size and adds a natural element to the room. I love to add a touch of seagrass, jute or rattan to a room because it adds warmth and texture — something that wood and metal pieces lack. The pouf creates the perfect spot for a small stack of books and doubles as a footstool.

The last thing I added, which is my daughter’s favorite, is this fringe throw blanket that’s SO soft. It’s available in both navy and white and the stitching and fringe detail are absolutely gorgeous. It looks and feels incredibly high-end. I’ve draped it over the side of our sofa so we always have a blanket to cozy up to in the evening. I might actually order the navy as well because it’s just so pretty.

Below are a few shots of our updated reading nook in our living room. How cozy does it look?!

I mentioned earlier that for me, January is also a great time to organize the home. Walmart recently launched a new collection with The Home Edit that’s to die for. Such an easy way to organize nearly any space in your home. I’ve ordered a bunch of storage pieces and will show you guys how I plan to use them as soon as they arrive! In the meantime, here are some of my favorites:

How about you guys? Do you spend the first few weeks of the new year organizing and refreshing your home? I’d love to hear about it!
